maybe its just me, but ive been buying a lot of pepsi beverages and none of them have the itunes promotion. is it available in hawaii?
I’m trying to get everything in place for a fresh install when Tiger comes out.
My music library is 10.30GB, which is obviously too big for one DVD. I’ve tried archiving but this has only reduced it to 10.1GB – which hardly seems worth bothering waiting for, so can anyone give me any ideas on how I’m supposed to back this up please
Thanks
Zim
Wow, I know this question has so many factors that go into the decision, but I need some help. I presently have a 12" iBook 900 and love it, but can’t stop drooling over the new powerbooks.
I don’t mind the 12" screeen, but something larger would obviously be pleasant. I just feel that if I simply get a 12" Powerbook, I am just getting a new case (that’s faster).
Apple has priced the 15" so close to the 17", that I feel I should just spring for the 17 and call it a day. But look what rationale I just used…I went from a 12 to 15 to 17 in a matter of seconds. I’ve been doing this for several weeks now, and it’s driving me nuts.
I do travel a lot (flying, etc) and have a bag that is sufficient for the 17" and my work laptop (Thinkpad). I do have a concern about placing both computers (if I got the 15/17 inchers) in with my Thinkpad. See, once you start putting a lot of items in a backpack (my work bag wears like a backpack) it starts putting stress on the items in it. That said, do you thin, the 15/17" screen is too large to handle weight on it (i.e. would the screen be at significant risk for breaking with a Thinkpad against it)?
Just am looking for a reason to get a single model. I know everyone has their opinion, and that is what I am looking for.
What do you guys think?

The FBI and Capitol Police are investigating the vicious attack of a top Senate staffer at her home last week amid concerns that the assault might be related to her work on the Finance Committee.
Emilia DiSanto, chief investigator for committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), arrived at her suburban Virginia home after work Wednesday about 6:30 p.m. As she was unloading belongings from her car, a 6-foot-1-inch white man dressed in black struck her repeatedly with an unidentified object believed to be a baseball bat.
After she screamed to her family inside the house, the assailant fled. DiSanto was transported to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, where she was treated for significant upper-body injuries. Nine staples were needed to close her head wound.
[...]
The attack on DiSanto came two days before a bomb threat caused alarm at an Iowa veterans home where Grassley was scheduled to appear.
[...]
No evidence has surfaced that definitively points to DiSantos work on the Finance Committee as the trigger for the attack, but sources say there are a number of clues that suggest it could be.
[...]
Sources say acts of violence in DiSantos neighborhood are rare.
Grassley is known for his aggressive oversight of the public and private sector. Over the past year, he has scrutinized healthcare fraud, organ-donation procedures used by hospitals, drug-safety matters and the use of nonprofit groups related to former lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
In her line of work, DiSanto doesnt make a lot of friends, an aide said.
Grassley spokeswoman Jill Kozeny said federal and local law-enforcement officials have not ruled out the possibility that the attack was work-related. She said Grassley and DiSanto have discussed the incident.

hmmmm… any relation to the abramoff case?

Found CM4 off some guy on amazon for £10!! BARGAIN
My question today is, that apparently there is a way u can get any players u want by offering a ridiculous amount of money for them so that their club accepts, then go to the offer contract screen and then clicking on the players name in the ‘agent says they want this much box’ and then changing your offer to however much then clicking back and offering them a ACCEPTABLE wage (if u can afford it) etc.
now i have tried this god knows how many times and it doesnt seem to work, i keep getting that the team (not player) have rejected the offer.
Does this cheat actually work? am I doing something wrong?
I would be grateful of a useful answer, cheers.
Well, I am about to purchase a 23" cinema display, but one of the bits of info I cannot find is how long the cable is. Anyone know offhand? Also has anyone had any experience extending the DVI portion of the cable? I will end up wanting to go at least 15 feet, maybe more…
Is there anyway to transfer a Mail message to iCal? Contextual menu app or something.
…well not really, but this is kinda cool.
I was staring at one of the posters in our Biology class and I almost fell over when I saw where it was made: Skokie, IL. A short 45min hop over Lake Erie from my house.
I can’t even visit their website without bursting out laughing:

I got one today and it fits great… does it look to fake?
I don’t know but since it’s so hard to get a "real" one I got this one!

First of all i never had playstation so i dont care about backwards compatability. Second if they stick with it it will be as easy to make games as it is for a pc. Finally micro$oft loses on every system they sell so if you rent and dont by their games your taking money away fom micro$oft which is always good.
I just bought a new eMac a few weeks ago (upgraded from my Beige PowerMac G3/OS9). I’m still getting used to OS X. My question is around the use of the keyboard. I’m a big keyboard fan… if I can keep my hands on the keyboard, I’m happy not to have to move over to the mouse. So, I’m looking for any way to enable keyboard shortcuts. In particular, I’d like to be able to pull down menus from the keyboard (because I tend to forget the keyboard shortcuts… which you can’t see unless you CLICK on the menu item). It took a while to figure out that Command-BackSpace would send a selected item to the trash.
So… any help would be greatly appreciated, including a place to look up common and hidden keyboard shortcuts.

Just wondering how much work you think still needs to be done to Tiger before it’s bug-free. I’m sure they wouldn’t give 3,000 developers a buggy OS, but then again, they do have a whole year to fine tune it. So what are your thoughts?
I’ve got a graphite Airport base station (the first generation) and it’s working beautifully with my TiBook.
However, when I try and upload files through it to the internet (ie. attachments, files, uploading my homepage, etc.), it isn’t able to do it. I can send e-mails that are like 5KB, but anything with a small attachment or longer email gets stuck, and that’s when I have to plug the ethernet cable directly into my TiBook which by-passes the problem.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Ok, now I have seen Pierce Brosnan control a BMW via a palm pilot in "James Bond" and a Chevy Suburban in "After Sunset". Yeah its fake BUT…
If you put a mac mini in your car and you have bluetooth and/or Airport I am sure it can be plugged up somehow to control the car. Cars have electric start and cruise control so it is possible. Now for apple to come out with a new Newton that looks like the ipod with a huge screen for the control interface. Going in the garage to build it now. I want to be able to drive my car to the gas station from my couch and get its own damn gas, and pay for it too. HA HA. :p
It seems that some things run odd for me. Like, sometimes it takes so much longer to open some things when if I open it now it works fine.
Also, when Im typing something, mainly on AIM I notice this, I will be typing and it stops coming on the screen(i also noticed this is word). If I move the mouse, everything comes up. Even if i hit enter to send the message, nothing will come up or send until i move the mouse.
Where would I go to pick one of these up, new? Anyone still have stock that you guys know about? It’s not for me, someone I know specifically needs a mini.
Is it safe to use the update installer instead of the clean install to go from 10.1.5 to Jaguar? I don’t want to do a clean install and then partition and then install 9.2 which is where I spend most of my time. My apps take a very long time to install and setup. Right now I have the default installation, 10.1.5 and 9.2.2 on the same partition in different satrtup folders. So, is the 10.2 updater safe or is the clean install necessary?
I dont mean to butt in, but it sounds like BTTM is acting like my grandmother. She always blames everyone else. I remember returning a cordless phone to fry’s for my grandparents and although the return policy (that was everywhere, including the receipt) stated no cash refund > 200, they demanded the cash, until they finally got it. Whose responsibility is it for not READING THE F***IN policy. You know the .mac account is purchased @ 1 year intervals. Just like the 35MPH speed limit is the limit. The State Trooper doesnt have to "warn" you of it.
BTTM, to me it sounds like you are acting very childish. When my cell phone gets cut off because my friend on the account doesnt pay his portion, I dont call verizon and beg them to keep the phone on till the 1st of the month cause I met this girl at the club last week and shes a nice piece of poon-tang, and to miss her call would be tragic.
Grow up, get your head out of your ass, and pay your bills. Your bill due dates are not the responsibility or Apple, or your mom. Just like your boss doesnt call you in the morning "wake up sunshine, time to get ready to face the world."
Sure, bitch and moan enough and Apple will give you .mac for a year, or whatever, but thats because mig businesses would rather shut the bitching people up, then hassle with them.
Lastly, you could always sell your Dell, and check your email from the library. With the proceeds of the Dell, you could probably buy .mac, and get some taco bell, for you and your wife.
